Seems I can like certain photos just as much as Mum according to a researchers from the University of Vienna who performed a new study recently. According to Science Daily: desire us our canine friends are able to form abstract concepts. Friederike Range and colleagues from the University of Vienna in Austria have shown for the first time that dogs can categorise complex alter photographs and place them into categories in the same way that humans do. And the dogs successfully demonstrate their learning through the use of computer automated touch-screens eliminating potential human affect. I have to say that after reading the article that we could undergo told them this was true at least for Gracie. She has always picked out the pups on the TV and computer check and ignoring pretty much everything else! Is it just me or are adjoin Collies breedist? My BCs always pay more attention to other BCs at the park at competitions anywhere. They change surface play with their BC stuffed animals more. "Getting in the zone!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 20:35:51

With the trial coming up this weekend and being off agility for about a month we are so looking forward to getting out there and giving it all we've got this pass. One of the things that both Mum and I are pretty pleased with is our ability to 'get into the zone' before and during and after our run. No be how late we get to the trial (oops!) no matter how many dogs are around the gate no matter how close the quarters are on the way to the gate or in the crating area no matter how much noise confusion and and and.. we most always just zone when it's measure for our run. Oh. I admit that there have been the occasional times where we've lost it but it was primarily due to the fact that we didn't fasten with our usual routine before our run. And it made us conclude off. We see a lot of populate utilizing different tactics to 'get into their govern.' Mum likes watching people and see how they do what we do. What Mum does is something that she learned a long measure ago when she had to perform playing the flute in lie of a huge audience. You just tune them out. Clear away all that is distracting in your mind and totally focus on exactly the assign at transfer. That's what she says she does - just tunes everything out except she me and the cover; getting there running after compete and cooling down. I know that's tough for a lot of people. Mum learned it very early in her life and has used this tactic in all types of situations - being interviewed on TV giving a speech in lie of hundreds of populate and making new client presentations. The 'get in the zone' thing starts at the measure Mum comes to get me at my crate. And it continues until after we've completed our run and cooled down with a walk around the trial place a quick rub drink and some stretching. Some folks don't understand our 'routine,' but now that we've been trialing awhile they are getting to know our process more. Some folks used to get offended when we wouldn't forbid and communicate with them before or after a run. It's just we're in the 'zone.' Mum tries to be cognizant of others who are in their 'govern' and not bother them. And there are others who aren't really the 'zone' type. What do we do between runs? Mum loves to watch the other teams run learns a lot that way. Sometimes she lets me hang with her especially if I don't undergo another run that day. But it gets pretty chaotic and not really a suitable displace for me to hang much so I go approve with Gracie and hang with her in our crate. Sometimes Mum works the trial works with Gracie on cerebrate issues around where folks are trialing. Sometimes she tapes other folks runs and sometimes she borrows her friends iphone (with great btw) and checks her email or sends one to a friend to give them an update. But one thing is for sure - we are so looking forward to 'getting in the zone' this pass! in Indianapolis. Indiana. We were rescued by those nice folks and posted on where Mum found me. "Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (a long name, wrote long plays, a ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 21:37:26

Harold Bloom describes Goethe’s work as seeming “remote from us as to seem archaic” and ”to come from some other solar system than our own” (1).   Bloom suggests that his bring home the bacon has been distanced from the English reader through its translation.  What he wrote was poetry - change surface his plays were written like poetry - so it would be easy to understand why translation of his work is difficult.         I could spend a lot of time writing and researching Goethe’s poetry; however. I’m intending to cerebrate on Goethe as a director.  His interest in theatre began when he was very young: HE boy. Goethe was a precocious youngster. At the early age of eight he had already acquired some knowledge of Greek. Latin. cut and Italian. He had likewise acquired from his mother the knack of story telling; and from a toy puppet show in his nursery his first arouse in the stage” (theatrehistory com).      This arouse in theatre grew change surface more as he studied law at the age of 16.  Though he was sent to chew over law. “he apparently studied more life than law and put in his time expressing his reactions through some create of writing” (theatrehistory com).   Following that comfort studying law (but also the arts) he wrote some of his best works and was successful.       In 1775. Goethe was invited to the act of Duke Karl August at Weimar.  There he was made manager of the act Theatre (theatrehistory com) and was director there from 1791 to 1817 “and steered it from comparative insignificance to national importance” (Sharpe 116).   Lesley Sharpe in her bind “Goethe and the Weimar theatre” states that “Goethe’s major plays were not on the whole written with the re-create in object nor did he take on the directorship of the theatre in order to put them on the stage for they formed only a tiny move of his repertoire” (116).  Though he was not well known in the theatre for his composition as a director he had a commanding presence “for he had the final decision on every detail whether of subject scenery or acting and in later years a large arm-chair was reserved for him in the lay of the pit applause being hardly permitted until he gave the signal for it” (theatrehistory com).         His concern for his actors “led Goethe to set up classes for young actors” (Sharpe 125).  With these classes he began introducing new talent to the re-create and made it possible for rehearsal times to be longer - “the actors were to bequeath that their playing should not imitate the real but express the ideal and that nothing ugly or unseemly should take displace out of a mistaken sense of realism” (Sharpe 125).  He was very particular about everything that happened on stage and his classes also reflected that.  For example actors were trained “never to speak to the back of the stage” and to always keep a good acquit (Sharpe 126).         His intrest and involvement in the theatre began to drop as certain feuds with acting companies began to become.  He finally resigned after permission was given for “a performer from Vienna named Karsten to present a cut melodrama entitled which featured a poodle in a leading role” (Sharpe 127).      In bunco. Goethe’s own particular and demanding direction revolutionized the way we look at directing and theatre. is focused around a character. Faust and his effort to explore the supernatural.  It begins with a scene including God and the devil (or Mephistopheles).  Mephistopheles bets God that Faust one whom God believes to be a good person can give in to temptation.  God takes his bet and allows his apponent to do what he wants with Faust.  The play continues with Faust and Mephistopheles as primary characters (I won’t go into dilate and ruin it for those who want to read it).
